Fined for kissing during marriage ceremony

If you think those Ipoh young couples slapped with summons for holding hands in the park by the Dewan Bandaraya fellas is badly treated… see this.

Reuters reported that an Israeli couple was fined 1,000 rupees after an Indian court found them guilty of obscenity for kissing during their marriage ceremony in a Hindu pilgrim town.

They infuriated the priest as they started to kiss and embrace while he was chanting vedic hymns. The priest, along with other Hindu holy men, complained to police, who filed charges against the couple.

“We will not tolerate any cultural pollution of this sort,” Ladoo Ram Sharma, president of an organization of Hindu priests in Pushkar, was quoted as saying.

Well, in this case… you may NOT kiss the bride in India. :-)

Actually even in traditional church weddings, u need permission from the pastor before you can kiss – “You may kiss the bride”

If the pastor was reading scripture and the couple start kissing, is also a bit rude rite… ;)
